The sacred and ancient tradition of The Delphic Games, uniquely celebrating the
Delphic Ideal of art, music, myth, dance, poetry, song, philosophy, theater and sport,
will be revitalized again in its modern renewal by:
THE COMMITTEE FOR THE REINSTATEMENT OF THE DELPHIC GAMES

This preview will be a practicum for bringing forth five days of world-class lectures, intensive workshops, leadership initiatives, round-table discussions and performances, held on the mythical, archaeological grounds of Mount Parnassus, led by renowned scholars, artists and sports specialists on the convergence of the manifold arts, inspired by the venerable tradition of The Delphic Games in the sacred landscape of Delphi

Statements of Purpose

1. To re-establish an historic tradition of immense, intrinsic value from antiquity that has viability and bears relevance to the present time.

2. To foster the significance of the Delphic Ideal as formative to the West’s archetypal imprint and to heighten awareness of its enduring contribution to humankind on a global scale.

3. To establish a Festival of The Arts that honors excellence based on standards, inclusive of, yet beyond, technique alone, recollecting the original, numinous properties inherent in both art and the experience of festival.

4. To create a Forum for Sport that considers the philosophy and pedagogy of athletics in its historical precedents and shows how the foundational ideals and ethics of sport continue to inspire contemporary life.

5. To combine the separate urgencies in the performing arts and in sport today in order to find a meeting ground for their potential, joint, respective celebration of human powers.

6. To serve as a model on a mythological and an actual plane for international social, political and cultural understanding and collaboration.

7. To aid cities of the world in developing a united capacity for missions inclusive of sport and the performing arts in spatial and relational tandem.

8. To re-energize Delphi, its archaeological site and its museum, in their unique proximity to nature and to community, less as a hub of tourism and more as a living center of myth.
