Re-Beginnings to the Eros Seminars:

The Eros Arc of Creativity

Nestled in the myth of Eros is the irreducible power that appears insatiate to this god of love, desire and sexuality.  He makes his demands known to us visibly and invisibly, gently and harshly, freely and bound.  He exacts his measure whether his urgency is heeded or ignored for we are ordained to live in his force field or live not at all. Invited or spurned he is summoned and impelled to act his ardor in directions as many as his arrows might traverse in multitudinous array. We meet him at differing ranges to these shafts: in the utter proximity of archetypal reaches as birthright, in those near that house pregnant symbols and those at far reaches of the mystic and mythopoetic.

There we shall embrace him in the dance of life and recognize him in his full creative and destructive sway. In step with him, we shall come to recognize the Divine Consort often tragically lost, concealed or driven away for fear of his counterparts, human and inhuman.  By his side, much is promised and delivered.  There we shall seek a baptism of fire and the spirit, with moistening of the soul, grafting of body back to earth and an air in contagion to both clear and enchant the mind.  Let us do so to grasp the introverted, extroverted and indelibly ‘centro-verted’ heart of the matter.

The Eros in us is born from Love’s source itself, the storied and imaginative place of life experience. The notion into motion of a triune Eros as Blind, Wounded and Winged, conceived as a creative opus spanning the many arts, demands focus and passionate intent. May we find the sight, the kindling and the fearlessness to see, feel and free ourselves in recognition of Love’s mystery as the magnum opus of our lives that it is.

The story of our life dictates the course of how we give and receive love. We shall actively and contemplatively move body, heart, mind, spirit and soul to the next ground of being – alive in Love. Let us bring Venus and Mars down to earth passionately into Eros.
