SUMMARY:Dante Alighieri & Isadora Duncan: The Poetics of Movement
DESCRIPTION:As the denizens of La Serenissima part the transformative waves of the Canale in candlelight to honor the miracle of the Divinely Feminine presence\, Santa Maria Della Salute\, we wish to acknowledge the conjoined contributions of Dante Alighieri and Isadora Duncan. \nWe are called by these iconic figures\, emanating from vastly different epochs\, to evoke through movement and language the formative\, creative impetus of Dantesque ‘love and light’ and Duncan beauty\, strength\, and freedom. \nIn seeking embodiment and resonance from the deep reservoir of these exemplars of the Western Imagination\, we possess a tripartite purpose. \nAs Venetians walk the ‘living water’\, we aim to manifest in the same manner a ‘living dance’ and a ‘living poetry’ by means of lecture\, performance\, and workshop format. \nTherein\, we scale the heights and depths of Dante’s ‘corso della vita‘ and Isadora’s ‘movement of the soul’ as depicted through the merging of the arts of poetry\, music and dance. \nTo do so\, we desire to bring forth\, physically and imaginally\, the stages of life on the human plane as occur in youth\, maturity and old age; the realms of existence on the sacred plane as in images of Hell\, Purgatory and Paradise; and the progress of the soul on the mystical plane as in states of devolution\, ensoulment\, and bliss. \nAs Dante crafted a life and a language which bespoke a Renaissance for humankind and a culture of enduring munificence\, Duncan created a universal ideal for the body\, mind\, heart\, and spirit\, in her ‘movement of the soul’. \nIn these events that we reverently prepare for La Festa della Salute\, the bifold genius of Dante and Isadora will encapsulate a semblance of the great poet’s ‘word made flesh’ that has added to the divine continuity of being of the Western inheritance.

SUMMARY:Jung on the Hudson
DESCRIPTION:Release Techniques for the Body/Soul\nJeanne Bresciani\nWednesday\, July 20: \nUsing movement-based exercises\, Jeanne Bresciani\, PhD\, founder and artistic director of the Isadora Duncan International Institute\, will help us wed action with contemplation as we embody some of Jung’s concepts in learning to “let go.” \n  \nOn the Silk Road with Hermes\nJeanne Bresciani\nWednesday\, July 27: \nIn this workshop\, led by Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D.\, founder and artistic director of the Isadora Duncan International Institute\, participants will be invited to join Jeanne’s caravan calling upon the “messenger god” for tricks\, treats\, signs and the wonders of alchemy. \n\nAbout Jung on the Hudson\nTwenty-three years ago\, when we first began presenting Jungian programs in the Hudson Valley\, we had no idea that this program would become an annual\, internationally recognized event in the world of analytical psychology. Over the years\, we have always selected themes of personal interest and have chosen presenters from whom we wished to learn. \nIn this way\, our seminars have enabled us to share and deepen our own interest in Jung’s work while attracting presenters and participants from all over the U.S. and abroad. Our program is open to the general public—ideal for individuals interested in their own personal development—as well as mental-health professionals who want to incorporate Jung’s psychology and ideas into their practice. \nProviding ample time for discussion\, dialogue\, and workshops\, as well as interaction with exceptional faculty\, these high-quality seminars also offer a wonderful way to make new friends and connect with people who share similar interests. \nWe invite you to join us in the charming\, historic village of Rhinebeck to explore the wisdom of Carl Jung with some of today’s most outstanding teachers and authors in the world of Jungian psychology. \n— Aryeh Maidenbaum and Diana Rubin\, Directors\, New York Center for Jungian Studies

SUMMARY:Isadora Duncan's 'Divine Philosophy' & Goddess Sophia 'Body of Wisdom' Autumn Workshop with Jeanne Bresciani Ph.D.
DESCRIPTION:Isadora Duncan’s ‘Divine Philosophy’ & Goddess Sophia ‘Body of Wisdom’ Autumn Workshop with Jeanne Bresciani Ph.D. \nin Washington D.C. sponsored by Word Dance Theater\, November 13-14\, 2015\n Dumbarton Church\n 3133 Dumbarton St. NW\, Washington\, DC \nTestament to Isadora’s medial powers\, in her youth she foresaw the mission not simply for an art form but for a ‘school of life’ that would usher in a new age on the wisdom of the body. Duncan’s vivid\, alive and moving art put its early stamp on the mind-body connection when she named it – the ‘divine philosophy’.  Outsweeping contemporary notions of mind-body synthesis\, then or now\, Isadora called for a multi-dimensional paradigm for movement.  She mined the treasury of great ideas beyond mind-body to heart\, spirit and soul. \nIn mythic precedent to Isadora in like frame stands goddess Sophia\, as ‘divine wisdom’\, an image sacred and profane\, encompassing energies of Isis\, Athena\, and the Virgin Mary in strata of experience both immortal and mortal.  From Sophia\, Isadora inherited the ability to incarnate in movement a feminine intelligence and a masculine intelligence\, to summon up a ‘divine intelligence’. As a result\, her method was active and contemplative\, visible\, forcible\, invisible and subtle and remains today as much the immortal forms as the mortal steps. \nWith having known and loved personally five figures close to Isadora during their advanced years\, and having been engaged in lifelong study and practice of this art form\, has come the early recognition that its’ true prize is not fame\, fortune\, degrees\, publications\, replication or even transmission – but a personal and universal access to the wisdom body.   The strength\, beauty and freedom that are the modus operandi of Duncan technique and choreography are operations on the way to the ‘temple of wisdom’\, as the first generations hailing from Isadora knew them to be. \nTogether in workshop format\, we will address the Isadora genius alongside the inspiration of divine Sophia\, putting it into motion to lift the Duncan tradition where it belongs – as legacy of the wisdom body. May it serve individual and group needs to carry our deepest wisdom and true life’s purpose on and on…

SUMMARY:Renaissance unto Rapture: In Artistry of the Soul
DESCRIPTION:Group Travel Tour to Tuscany\, Italy. Open to all\, no movement experience necessary.\nA Small Group Travel Tour to Tuscany\, Italy for Artist and Art-Lovers\nJoin us for an exploration – literary\, painterly\, poetic\, musical\, natural and philosophical – to reanimate the flow of beauty and soulfulness alongside the Arno river. This journey of mind\, body and soul will be led by Jeanne Bresciani\, a Florentine American\, who has led one-of-a-kind journeys and festivals throughout Italy for over twenty years. We shall thrive amidst convivium in fine dining\, musical concerts\, individual artistry within studio immersions and all-encompassing gardens and natural grotto settings. Infused with the spirit of Renaissance imagination and invention\, we discover the world and rediscover ourselves. \nTwo three-hour seminars within atelier setting exploring the merging of the arts and the manifold richness of Florence. Participants’ own creative processes will be nurtured relative to their own body of creation in the mediums of painting\, sculpture\, photography\, poetry\, travel writing\, movement\, theater and song. \nOpen to all\, no movement experience necessary. \nResidense Michelangiolo\, the Renaissance villa that will be our place center for the week\nThis magnificent journey is planned for a sojourn to the heart of Renaissance Florence\, Lucca and Monsummano Terme\, to the sensibility of a life and times when the discovery of the world equaled the discovery of oneself. During ‘vendemmia’ – the height of the growing cycle – we shall celebrate a Tuscan harvest of art\, ideas and natural wonders. We will travel through sites considered among the most aesthetically beautiful\, elegant and ennobling in the world.Traversing the byways of Florence and the banks of the Arno River\, we will find seamless fusing of spirit and matter. Participants will experience the great treasures and the privately held masterpieces of Tuscany. We will seek messages from the stone and metalwork\, oils and canvas\, sky and light\, flowers and trees\, fountains and vines on the true Florentine gold around\, among and within us. And in so doing we shall\, as Isadora suggested\, “consciously seek\, what we have unconsciously lost.”Among highlights of our days and nights are:• Etruscan inspired morning visualization and therapeutic exercises• Journey on the corso de la vita – ‘the road of life’ at the exquisite five-star\, centuries-old\, healing chambers of Grotta Giusti Terme• Guided tours at the Uffizi Gallery\, Medici Chapel and Boboli Gardens \n• Festive meals in convivium\, nourishing both body and soul Our path\, whether in city or country\, shall be one with the sacred Tuscan topography\, for the sake of the body and the soul with desire for a Renaissance unto rapture. Please join us to nurture your own Artistry of the Soul\, which will enjoy a deep reawakening within the Northern Italian world of beauty\, art\, nature and culture. This unique journey has been created for enthusiasts of art and culture\, welcoming participants from diverse fields of experience and interest.Register by July 1st to receive the gift of a ‘Botticelli’ inspired\, pure silk tunic\, scarf and sac. \nDownload Complete PDF Flier for Details \nFor more information and registration please visit Il Chiostro here.
