SUMMARY:Zoom CPI | Isadora from Inner Reaches to Outer Momentum: Dancing the Jungian Typologies Through the Labyrinth
DESCRIPTION:Isadora from Inner Reaches to Outer Momentum: Dancing the Jungian Typologies Through the Labyrinth\nThursday\, January 11th to Sunday\, January 14th\, 2024\n  \nUpon a sacred way in dancing steps our innate prima materia leads us cross the threshold… \nZoom Winter Study: Four-Day Intensive in the Technique and Choreography of Isadora Duncan with Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D. held live from Tempio di Danza \nAvailable via Zoom \nRegister Here\n\nSchedule:\nThursday\, January 11th \n4:00pm – 7:00pm (Hybrid) \nFriday\, January 12th \n10:00am – 1:00pm (Hybrid) \nSaturday\, January 13th \n10:00am – 1:00pm (Hybrid) \n4:00pm – 7:00pm (Hybrid) \nSunday\, January 14th \n10:00am – 1:00pm (Hybrid) \nAbout the Course: \nIsadora from Inner Reaches to Outer Momentum: \nDancing the Jungian Typologies Through the Labyrinth \n“dance is the art that gives expression to the human soul through movement\, but it is also the foundation of a complete conception of life” – ID \nIsadora Duncan possessed the unique ability to live from a totality of human potential and perceive all beings as vitally comprised of essential aspects – that of the mind\, body\, heart and soul\, never neglectful of spirit.  Her art constellates around these values calling for their re-emergence in individual inwardness\, imagination and centeredness toward expression\, expansion and wholeness. Among the first to permit herself the strong\, gravitational pull of authenticity\, she discovered a movement language of the soul. Through its’ inspirational and revelatory capacity\, it continues to usher dancers on a truer\, deeper and more complete life path. \nConcurrently\, to hone the self along the way\, C.G. Jung conceived a language of typologies to offer a nomenclature on the differing\, inborn personality types.  He created these typologies as unifying principles to aid in the integration of the self and the understanding of others. He identified two major personality ‘attitudes’ or frameworks for the process of living one’s destiny: from outward in; and from inward out – extroversion and introversion.  Additionally\, he codified types into four psychological ‘functions’ of consciousness or modes of orientation to support clear and viable engagement with one’s inner and outer world.  They were the functions of thinking and feeling for the rational\, organizing of indirect experience; and sensation and intuition for the non-rational\, perceiving of direct experience. \nSeamlessly within Isadora’s art these types are made visible. We find them\, too\, wherever hidden within the labyrinthine self upon the circuitous road of life. We shall meet them together at the Tempio reckoning with the powers of thinking\, feeling\, sensing and intuiting on inner and outer quests via personal and group movement exercises\, tableaux vivants\, vision poems\, physical theater\, dance technique and choreography. There we shall re-inherit these gifts through awareness into action allowing art’s subtle but cogent process the weight\, space and time to flow into beauty’s possibility. Epiphanies on self and other\, seen in a new light from a different perspective\, wait to be revealed via Jung’s semi-scientific slant.  May within these embodied realizations\, indecipherable secrets be given sense life that ‘the thoughts and feelings of the soul’ might brim with renewed vigor.  In Duncan works and those we forge as an ensemble\, we continue the spiral dance to grasp how and why we are meant for this place\, our world\, and this time\, 2024\, reverencing and reveling in being here now.

SUMMARY:Washington\, D.C. | Isadora & Maria-Theresa: In Panoply of Womankind
DESCRIPTION:Isadora & Maria-Theresa in Panoply of Womankind \nLed by Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D. with Word Dance Theater \nFriday\, November 17th – Saturday\, November 18th\, 2023 Dumbarton United Methodist Church\, Washington\, D.C. \n  \nDay I \nFriday\, November 17th | 7pm – 9pm Eastern \nCost: $50 (In-Person) /  $40 (Zoom) \n  \nDay II \nSaturday\, November 18th | 10am – 4pm Eastern \nCost: $150 (In-Person) /  $120 (Zoom) \n  \nIn-Person Attendance Shall Take Place At: 3133 Dumbarton St NW\, Washington\, DC 20007 \nRegister Here\n  \nAbout the Course: \nIsadora is revered as lodestar for feminism and likewise is esteemed for ‘intense womanliness’.  Goddess-like stature aside\, one wonders of these emblematic energies and greater contradictions co-existing within divinely human Isadora. \nWithout a coup de foudre at a tender age upon meeting ‘the last dancing Isadorable’\, Maria-Theresa Duncan\, I would have doubted an invincible female self-possession possible to hold the tension of such opposites. Isadora’s adopted daughter\, was a red-haired\, septuagenarian font of beauty and wisdom\, freedom and strength with no expiration date.  ‘The last dancing Isadorable’ disarmingly revoked all prohibitions versus the existence of a multi-dimensional\, complete woman. In powerful artistry via immersive techniques and teachings – a movement of the soul\, a religion of love and a treatise on living were unveiled. The collage of inspirations\, insights\, instincts and intuitions revealed the unsayable but never the undanceable\, to become the unassailable force field of androgyny. \nThe genius expression of personal and collective feeling\, thought and action has been passed down from Isadora\, to Maria-Theresa and on to each of us.  No one teaches us to be a woman\, but we are chiseled by the movement and stillness\, the music and silence\, the role\, the costume\, the mirror\, the magic to be freed into the full embrace of life.  May we meet to dance and discern\, never relinquishing our personal authority.  Let us heftily reconcile the feminine to the masculine\, shaping our own story\, exploring it\, dissecting it while keeping it alive\, mystery intact. \nWith gratitude to Cynthia Word\, Founding Director of Word Dance Theater\, for this call to meet and experience in movement the magnificent array of woman.  Presenting on this subject in the company of WDT in its wide-reaching breadth is of particular meaning as Cynthia is one of only two recipients of the Isadora Duncan International Institute Maria-Theresa Duncan Award\, presented at the Lansburgh Shakespeare Theater\, D.C. in 2010. \nJeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D.

SUMMARY:Eros: The Blind\, The Wounded & The Winged | From the Myth\, Movement & Metaphor Program™
DESCRIPTION:Eros: The Blind\, The Wounded & The Winged\n\n\nFriday\, September 29th to Sunday\, October 1st\, 2023\n\n\nIn-Person and Live Via Zoom with Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D. \nOpen to Movers of All Levels\n\n\nFrom the Myth\, Movement & Metaphor Program™\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRe-Beginnings to the Eros Seminars: \nThe Eros Arc of Creativity \nNestled in the myth of Eros is the irreducible power that appears insatiate to this god of love\, desire and sexuality.  He makes his demands known to us visibly and invisibly\, gently and harshly\, freely and bound.  He exacts his measure whether his urgency is heeded or ignored for we are ordained to live in his force field or live not at all. Invited or spurned he is summoned and impelled to act his ardor in directions as many as his arrows might traverse in multitudinous array. We meet him at differing ranges to these shafts: in the utter proximity of archetypal reaches as birthright\, in those near that house pregnant symbols and those at far reaches of the mystic and mythopoetic. \nThere we shall embrace him in the dance of life and recognize him in his full creative and destructive sway. In step with him\, we shall come to recognize the Divine Consort often tragically lost\, concealed or driven away for fear of his counterparts\, human and inhuman.  By his side\, much is promised and delivered.  There we shall seek a baptism of fire and the spirit\, with moistening of the soul\, grafting of body back to earth and an air in contagion to both clear and enchant the mind.  Let us do so to grasp the introverted\, extroverted and indelibly ‘centro-verted’ heart of the matter. \nThe Eros in us is born from Love’s source itself\, the storied and imaginative place of life experience. The notion into motion of a triune Eros as Blind\, Wounded and Winged\, conceived as a creative opus spanning the many arts\, demands focus and passionate intent. May we find the sight\, the kindling and the fearlessness to see\, feel and free ourselves in recognition of Love’s mystery as the magnum opus of our lives that it is. \nThe story of our life dictates the course of how we give and receive love. We shall actively and contemplatively move body\, heart\, mind\, spirit and soul to the next ground of being – alive in Love. Let us bring Venus and Mars down to earth passionately into Eros. \n~ From Jeanne Bresciani\, on the course \n\n\n\n\nSchedule: \nFriday\, September 29th \n\n\n10:00am – 1:00pm (In-Person Only) |  4:00pm – 7:00pm Eastern (Hybrid)\n\n\n\nSaturday\, September 30th\n\n\n10:00am – 1:00pm (In-Person Only) |  3:00pm – 6:00pm Eastern (Hybrid) | 8:00pm – 10:00pm Eastern (In-Person Only)\n\n\n\nSunday\, October 1st\n\n\n9:00am – 12:00pm (Hybrid) | 3:00pm – 6:00pm Eastern (In-Person Only)\n\n\nAbout the Myth\, Movement & Metaphor Program:\n\n\n\n\n\nA program combining studies in movement improvisation\, choreography\, archetypal psychology and mythology\n\n\nDesigned for students from diverse fields of study\, the goal of this training is to reanimate the place of myth and the mythic imagination through exploration\, experimentation and immersion in expressive arts\, studies in movement and relevant writings on myth and symbol. With an interdisciplinary approach to their research\, and careful guidance from program faculty\, graduates will be well poised to contribute to present day conversations on myth.\n\n\nProgram Components Include: ~ Language and movement improvisation ~ Supervised research and written course work on literary and movement studies ~ Choreographic research ~ Parallels to contemporary studies in archetypal psychology \n\n\nOpen to General Students as well as candidates in the Myth\, Movement & Metaphor Program. SUMMARY:Zoom CPI | Isadora Duncan & The Art of Ecstasy: In Creation of Festival
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nSchedule \nFriday\, March 18th | 5pm-9pm EST \nSaturday\, March 19th | 10am-12pm & 5pm-8pm EST \nSunday\, March 20th | 10am-1pm & 6pm-8pm EST with Open Performance at 7pm EST \nCourse Hours: 15 including one hour of assigned reading \nPrivate conferences available at additional fee. \nCertificate Program I Course open to Candidates and General Students of all levels. \nBy participating in this online course\, I have read and fully agree to the Digital Class Terms & Conditions \n  \nAbout This Certificate Program I \nIn Isadora Duncan & The Art of Ecstasy: In Creation of Festival\, this inner conjoined journey takes off via Zoom from the intimacy and enclosure of our own homes in preparation as if in rite of purification to great purpose. We recognize Isadora\, who attendant to the great tutelary spirits of the ancients\, became a vital force behind the first reinstatement of the Delphic Games in the early 20th century. We travel speaking Isadora’s language of guardianship\, traversing her footsteps\, reaffirming her Delphic imprint and fortifying the medium of festival.  Our movements hone from mythos as if carved from stones of ancestors that each might be part of the art of ecstasy\, at once indwelling and revelatory. \nWe identify motifs most Greek in her oeuvre and look to the images that informed her holistic perspective giving us the profound congruence that is the art of Isadora from essence to execution. Excavating Duncan’s technique from ancient models\, we set the stage in preparation for solo and group performances on the varying stages of Delphi.  We constellate the original Duncan dances as infused by the Greek fire of life in solo and group forms to be performed at the differing stages of Delphi. We amass the many contemporary IDII dances to the music of Greek and modern composers making one and whole an event tracing from primordial waters of creation forward. Coursing through ages\, like muses through time\, our destination remains here\, now\, mythic – and beyond unto the full blown Games of a Delphic future.

SUMMARY:CPII | Chopiniana: Dances from the Duncan Treasury Pt. II
DESCRIPTION:Chopiniana: Dances from Duncan Treasury \nPart II \nTrailblazing her way across the theaters and culture spaces of Europe\, Duncan\, with her groundbreaking works to the Polish genius\, would ignite in artists and benefactors alike a radical new conception of dance and theater as a Gesamtkunstwerk\, or total work of art.  \nDescribed as a “romantic reverie\,” Chopiniana\, Op. 46\, orchestrated by Alexander Galzunov and choreographed by Michael Fokine with Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes\, is a fantasy setting of some of Chopin’s famous waltzes\, polonaises\, nocturnes and mazurkas new and yet bearing the hidden imprint of Duncan’s pivotal artist renderings. We shall explore these outcroppings of mood and form to the “poet of the piano” and track selected Duncan choreographies in their own right and within the colored variations of Chopiniana. \nAbout the the Chopin IDII Legacy: \nThe Isadora Duncan International Institute has held choreographic stores of masterworks to the great composers but none more foundational to Duncan’s art than those of Chopin\, from the beginning of her career in 1901 to her last appearances in 1927. Isadora became known worldwide for dancing to all of Chopin’s repertoire with the most noted Chopin exponents of her time\, in Chopin Evenings\, full concerts of dances\, set solely to the Polish master’s pianistic works. Unmatched in its breadth and historical precedence\, the rare canon\, held exclusively by the IDII\, represents the entire known holdings of Isadora’s synergistic works to Chopin’s numerous preludes\, nocturnes\, etudes\, waltzes\, and mazurkas as passed down in direct lineage by Maria-Theresa\, founder of the IDII\, Inc.\, Isadora Duncan’s adopted daughter\, the “last dancing Isadorable.” \nAll held via Zoom live from Tempio di danza \nOpen to general students and those enrolled in the Certificate Program in Isadora Duncan Studies II: The Dances of Isadora Duncan. \nSchedule \nFriday\, December 10th 4-7pm EST \nSaturday\, December 11th 12-3pm EST \nSunday\, December 12th 4-7pm EST \nTuition – $300 \n  \nRegister Now\nBy participating in this online course\, I have read and fully agree to the Digital Class Terms & Conditions

SUMMARY:CPI | Isadora Duncan & A Sense of the Beautiful
DESCRIPTION:Isadora Duncan & A Sense of the Beautiful\nCertificate Program I Course open to Candidates and General Students of all levels.\nHeld via Zoom with Jeanne Bresciani. Includes 15 credit hours of CPI training. \nThe purpose of Program I is to train individuals intensively and professionally for the teaching and performance of the Duncan technique. Three aspects of study and practice are emphasized: the aesthetic\, the philosophical and the pedagogical. Each aspect is approached experientially through physical embodiment. The program is based on authentic Duncan technique and choreography\, while developing a powerful access to students’ own creative resources for moving\, teaching and the creation of new works. \n  \nAbout the Course: \n“… create Beauty and Inspiration for a new life “   ID \n        The legacy of Isadora Duncan as revelatory of beauty is a vital touchstone of her tradition. Arguably\, she alone traversed the great abyss toward Modernism embodied and with beauty as a cogent and inherent value. Perhaps\, among all the powers of her vast artistry\, it was her astonishing call for the chain of being to be linked to the undying value of beauty that had first been defined by the Greeks for our understanding. For beauty is bequeathed to us from Duncan as mandate for every living person and as an eternal principle proffered as prayer and possibility to the modern world. In Duncan’s six-fold relationship to beauty comprised of: apperception\, receptivity\, possession\, expression\, communion and bestowal – a complete round of experience is returned to the beautiful. As an education for life through the dance\, Duncan’s practice\, philosophy and pedagogy continues to become an education for beauty’s sake in all its ideal and variegated forms within the self\, others and in the soul of the world itself. \nSchedule: \nThursday\, August 19 – 4-7pm EDT \nFriday\, August 20th – 4-7pm EDT \nSaturday\, August 21st – 7-10pm EDT \nSunday\, August 22nd – 10am-12pm EDT & 6-8pm EDT with Open Performance at 8pm \nTuition: $300 \nPrivate conferences available at additional fee. \nRegister Here\nBy participating in this online course\, I have read and fully agree to the Digital Class Terms & Conditions
