SUMMARY:Zoom CPI | Isadora Duncan & The Art of Ecstasy: In Creation of Festival
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nSchedule \nFriday\, March 18th | 5pm-9pm EST \nSaturday\, March 19th | 10am-12pm & 5pm-8pm EST \nSunday\, March 20th | 10am-1pm & 6pm-8pm EST with Open Performance at 7pm EST \nCourse Hours: 15 including one hour of assigned reading \nPrivate conferences available at additional fee. \nCertificate Program I Course open to Candidates and General Students of all levels. \nBy participating in this online course\, I have read and fully agree to the Digital Class Terms & Conditions \n  \nAbout This Certificate Program I \nIn Isadora Duncan & The Art of Ecstasy: In Creation of Festival\, this inner conjoined journey takes off via Zoom from the intimacy and enclosure of our own homes in preparation as if in rite of purification to great purpose. We recognize Isadora\, who attendant to the great tutelary spirits of the ancients\, became a vital force behind the first reinstatement of the Delphic Games in the early 20th century. We travel speaking Isadora’s language of guardianship\, traversing her footsteps\, reaffirming her Delphic imprint and fortifying the medium of festival.  Our movements hone from mythos as if carved from stones of ancestors that each might be part of the art of ecstasy\, at once indwelling and revelatory. \nWe identify motifs most Greek in her oeuvre and look to the images that informed her holistic perspective giving us the profound congruence that is the art of Isadora from essence to execution. Excavating Duncan’s technique from ancient models\, we set the stage in preparation for solo and group performances on the varying stages of Delphi.  We constellate the original Duncan dances as infused by the Greek fire of life in solo and group forms to be performed at the differing stages of Delphi. We amass the many contemporary IDII dances to the music of Greek and modern composers making one and whole an event tracing from primordial waters of creation forward. Coursing through ages\, like muses through time\, our destination remains here\, now\, mythic – and beyond unto the full blown Games of a Delphic future.

SUMMARY:CPII | Chopiniana: Dances from the Duncan Treasury Pt. II
DESCRIPTION:Chopiniana: Dances from Duncan Treasury \nPart II \nTrailblazing her way across the theaters and culture spaces of Europe\, Duncan\, with her groundbreaking works to the Polish genius\, would ignite in artists and benefactors alike a radical new conception of dance and theater as a Gesamtkunstwerk\, or total work of art.  \nDescribed as a “romantic reverie\,” Chopiniana\, Op. 46\, orchestrated by Alexander Galzunov and choreographed by Michael Fokine with Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes\, is a fantasy setting of some of Chopin’s famous waltzes\, polonaises\, nocturnes and mazurkas new and yet bearing the hidden imprint of Duncan’s pivotal artist renderings. We shall explore these outcroppings of mood and form to the “poet of the piano” and track selected Duncan choreographies in their own right and within the colored variations of Chopiniana. \nAbout the the Chopin IDII Legacy: \nThe Isadora Duncan International Institute has held choreographic stores of masterworks to the great composers but none more foundational to Duncan’s art than those of Chopin\, from the beginning of her career in 1901 to her last appearances in 1927. Isadora became known worldwide for dancing to all of Chopin’s repertoire with the most noted Chopin exponents of her time\, in Chopin Evenings\, full concerts of dances\, set solely to the Polish master’s pianistic works. Unmatched in its breadth and historical precedence\, the rare canon\, held exclusively by the IDII\, represents the entire known holdings of Isadora’s synergistic works to Chopin’s numerous preludes\, nocturnes\, etudes\, waltzes\, and mazurkas as passed down in direct lineage by Maria-Theresa\, founder of the IDII\, Inc.\, Isadora Duncan’s adopted daughter\, the “last dancing Isadorable.” \nAll held via Zoom live from Tempio di danza \nOpen to general students and those enrolled in the Certificate Program in Isadora Duncan Studies II: The Dances of Isadora Duncan. \nSchedule \nFriday\, December 10th 4-7pm EST \nSaturday\, December 11th 12-3pm EST \nSunday\, December 12th 4-7pm EST \nTuition – $300 \n  \nRegister Now\nBy participating in this online course\, I have read and fully agree to the Digital Class Terms & Conditions

SUMMARY:CPI | Isadora Duncan & A Sense of the Beautiful
DESCRIPTION:Isadora Duncan & A Sense of the Beautiful\nCertificate Program I Course open to Candidates and General Students of all levels.\nHeld via Zoom with Jeanne Bresciani. Includes 15 credit hours of CPI training. \nThe purpose of Program I is to train individuals intensively and professionally for the teaching and performance of the Duncan technique. Three aspects of study and practice are emphasized: the aesthetic\, the philosophical and the pedagogical. Each aspect is approached experientially through physical embodiment. The program is based on authentic Duncan technique and choreography\, while developing a powerful access to students’ own creative resources for moving\, teaching and the creation of new works. \n  \nAbout the Course: \n“… create Beauty and Inspiration for a new life “   ID \n        The legacy of Isadora Duncan as revelatory of beauty is a vital touchstone of her tradition. Arguably\, she alone traversed the great abyss toward Modernism embodied and with beauty as a cogent and inherent value. Perhaps\, among all the powers of her vast artistry\, it was her astonishing call for the chain of being to be linked to the undying value of beauty that had first been defined by the Greeks for our understanding. For beauty is bequeathed to us from Duncan as mandate for every living person and as an eternal principle proffered as prayer and possibility to the modern world. In Duncan’s six-fold relationship to beauty comprised of: apperception\, receptivity\, possession\, expression\, communion and bestowal – a complete round of experience is returned to the beautiful. As an education for life through the dance\, Duncan’s practice\, philosophy and pedagogy continues to become an education for beauty’s sake in all its ideal and variegated forms within the self\, others and in the soul of the world itself. \nSchedule: \nThursday\, August 19 – 4-7pm EDT \nFriday\, August 20th – 4-7pm EDT \nSaturday\, August 21st – 7-10pm EDT \nSunday\, August 22nd – 10am-12pm EDT & 6-8pm EDT with Open Performance at 8pm \nTuition: $300 \nPrivate conferences available at additional fee. \nRegister Here\nBy participating in this online course\, I have read and fully agree to the Digital Class Terms & Conditions

SUMMARY:Myth\, Movement & Metaphor | Isadora Duncan: Movement at the Threshold
DESCRIPTION:Isadora Duncan:\nMovement at the Threshold\nIn this next chapter of the Myth\, Movement & Metaphor Program\, we shall encounter the liminal spaces of physical\, mental\, spiritual and emotional change for the dancer and for humankind as witnessed at crucible places and times of impact\, great and small. From the sacred to the profane\, mythic to everyday\, we shall arrive at\, meet\, cross and reflect upon our passage at the bridge places of life as turning points to newness and growth through deeper presence and authenticity in the dance. Akin to Isadora’s enactments through art\, history\, music and the mythos\, we shall be guided to remastery at crossroads personal and universal confronting past\, present and future at junctures quintessential. Ultimately\, in terpsichorean mode\, movement shall enliven us to the brink of awakening\, expanding\, refining and revamping like a tonic to stagnation – the clarity of the next footfall. Borrowing perspectives from Ovid’s natural and celestial haunts in Metamorphoses\, Dante’s ancient and eternal realm in the Divine Comedy and Rilke’s burst of divine inspiration in the Sonnets to Orpheus\, we shall chart – not what we have done before\, not just what we want to do but what we must do in answer to the call of destiny. \n“Voluminous\, vast\, swelling like sails in the wind\, the movements of my dance carry me onward — onward and upward…” ~ Isadora Duncan \nFriday\, November 6th 4pm – 7pm EST\nSaturday\, November 7th 7pm – 10pm EST\nSunday\, November 8th 10am – 1pm EST \nREGISTER HERE | Tuition: $225 // Includes 9 credit hours of training and a 20 minute private supervision session held via Zoom.

SUMMARY:Princeton Club Presents "Mythos in the Western Healing Tradition" Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Mythos in the Western Healing Tradition\nwith Jeanne Bresciani \nWednesday\, September 23\n6:00PM Virtual Program\nFree for Members\nHosted by Suzanne Roff\nProtection\, prevention\, and healing are never so relevant as they are today.  In the inspiring Zoom-cast\, Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D.\, Artistic Director\, Isadora Duncan International Institute\, will share her knowledge on healing agencies and instincts available\, yet overlooked.  Her research stems from Native American\, Medieval European and Ancient Greek legacies. \nThis visual presentation is a journey punctuated by three breathful\, subtle movement interludes for brief\, participatory interaction\, seated or standing\, so that a modicum of wisdom from these traditions will directly address body\, mind and spirit as recognizable inherent forces. \nFrom a cultural historian’s point of view\, you will have the opportunity to learn and bear witness to the mythic\, imaginal and natural backdrop of illness and the concomitant healing capacity deeply within the human ken. Going backward from the energies of the earth and sky inheritance on the North American continent; to the powerful ‘viriditas’(greening) underlying the music and rapture of Hildegard von Bingen; to Hippocrates’ clear\, directed advice on food\, habit and the regenerative sphere of dreams\,  we shall foster the trifold prescriptions of mind\, body and spirit to heal. \nThis 90-minute seminar shall be concluded with a brief Q & A session. \nPlease email Rosemary\, at rosemary@idii.org to register for this event\nJeanne Bresciani\, M.A.\, Kress Fellow in Art History\, M.A. (Williams College Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute)\, Fulbright Scholar in Dance (New York University)\, I.M.A. in Archetypal Psychology/Laban Studies\, Ph.D. (New York University)\, is the main protégée of Maria Theresa Duncan\, adopted daughter of Isadora Duncan and serves as Artistic Director for the Isadora Duncan International Institute (idii.org). Hailed by the press as “the divine in motion” for her lifelong dedication to the body of myth\, Bresciani is former Faculty at NYU and Founding Chair of the Committee for the Reinstatement of the Delphic Games allied with Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies. She has presented at Lincoln Center\, The British Museum\, The Olympic Games and archaeological sites\, palaces\, stages and universities globally. Her influence includes the development of the first accredited Duncan training programs in the US\, Asia and Europe and the revivification of great Western festivals including the Delphic Games of Greece; and in Italy within the ongoing development of Carnevale di Venezia and the Serenissima Circle\, a philanthropic group of like-minded individuals devoted to the preservation of the cultural treasury found within the incomparable city.  Jeanne is in frequent artistic and scholarly residency internationally and is recipient of The “Tenth Muse” Golden Award 2016 granted by the Universal Delphic Union and the Honorable Panos J. Kaltsis.

SUMMARY:Virtual Masterclass | The Quest for Isadora
DESCRIPTION:The Quest for Isadora\nFor some of us Isadora’s exigency is within every breath and is part of our very life force. She is less ‘other’ and is more ‘essence’. Having forged – roughhewn and refined – a ‘school of life’\, her presence filtered into everything\, everywhere. From a rare capacity for universality through the courageous dissemination of her art and its technique\, choreography and imaginative potential\, she has called many to her\, who have answered lifelong. Some\, if not all\, of the following strivings provided within her canon give initiatory force to: \n•  a sense of identity  • a physical prowess  • an embodiment of womanliness  • a romantic enhancement • a challenge to the self   • a whimsical caprice   • a realm of inspiration   • a path to freedom • an expressive outlet   • a mission of peace • a conduit to service •  an opening of the heart   • an immersion in beauty   • a deepening humanness   •  an amelioration of suffering   • a call to action • a breakthrough   • a healing balm   •  a conduit to empowerment   • a flight of transcendence  • an access to transformation   • a system of belief • a commingling of souls   •  an historical gaze   • a site of sanctuary     \n… and are made possible through Isadora’s art.\nWe shall experience them as tributaries of a stream of life flowing\, branching and spreading from the well-formed arcs of Duncan’s consummate movement. There we shall not only discover more deeply Isadora but the heart of our own quest for the Dance. \nAll students of Life\, Movement\, and Art are welcome. \nVirtual classes will be live via Zoom. \nJeanne Bresciani\nDirector of the Isadora Duncan International Institute/NYC\nwww.idii.org \nFriday\, May 9\, 2020\, 7-9pm\nSaturday\, May 10\, 2020\, 10am – 12pm\nSunday\, May 11\, 2020\, 10am – 12pm \nEntire Weekend (6 hours): $120\nOne 2-hour session: $50\nAll registrations must be received by 5 pm the day before class.  \nTo register or for more information: cynthia@worddance.org
