SUMMARY:Myth\, Movement & Metaphor | Isadora Duncan: Movement at the Threshold
DESCRIPTION:Isadora Duncan:\nMovement at the Threshold\nIn this next chapter of the Myth\, Movement & Metaphor Program\, we shall encounter the liminal spaces of physical\, mental\, spiritual and emotional change for the dancer and for humankind as witnessed at crucible places and times of impact\, great and small. From the sacred to the profane\, mythic to everyday\, we shall arrive at\, meet\, cross and reflect upon our passage at the bridge places of life as turning points to newness and growth through deeper presence and authenticity in the dance. Akin to Isadora’s enactments through art\, history\, music and the mythos\, we shall be guided to remastery at crossroads personal and universal confronting past\, present and future at junctures quintessential. Ultimately\, in terpsichorean mode\, movement shall enliven us to the brink of awakening\, expanding\, refining and revamping like a tonic to stagnation – the clarity of the next footfall. Borrowing perspectives from Ovid’s natural and celestial haunts in Metamorphoses\, Dante’s ancient and eternal realm in the Divine Comedy and Rilke’s burst of divine inspiration in the Sonnets to Orpheus\, we shall chart – not what we have done before\, not just what we want to do but what we must do in answer to the call of destiny. \n“Voluminous\, vast\, swelling like sails in the wind\, the movements of my dance carry me onward — onward and upward…” ~ Isadora Duncan \nFriday\, November 6th 4pm – 7pm EST\nSaturday\, November 7th 7pm – 10pm EST\nSunday\, November 8th 10am – 1pm EST \nREGISTER HERE | Tuition: $225 // Includes 9 credit hours of training and a 20 minute private supervision session held via Zoom.

SUMMARY:Princeton Club Presents "Mythos in the Western Healing Tradition" Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Mythos in the Western Healing Tradition\nwith Jeanne Bresciani \nWednesday\, September 23\n6:00PM Virtual Program\nFree for Members\nHosted by Suzanne Roff\nProtection\, prevention\, and healing are never so relevant as they are today.  In the inspiring Zoom-cast\, Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D.\, Artistic Director\, Isadora Duncan International Institute\, will share her knowledge on healing agencies and instincts available\, yet overlooked.  Her research stems from Native American\, Medieval European and Ancient Greek legacies. \nThis visual presentation is a journey punctuated by three breathful\, subtle movement interludes for brief\, participatory interaction\, seated or standing\, so that a modicum of wisdom from these traditions will directly address body\, mind and spirit as recognizable inherent forces. \nFrom a cultural historian’s point of view\, you will have the opportunity to learn and bear witness to the mythic\, imaginal and natural backdrop of illness and the concomitant healing capacity deeply within the human ken. Going backward from the energies of the earth and sky inheritance on the North American continent; to the powerful ‘viriditas’(greening) underlying the music and rapture of Hildegard von Bingen; to Hippocrates’ clear\, directed advice on food\, habit and the regenerative sphere of dreams\,  we shall foster the trifold prescriptions of mind\, body and spirit to heal. \nThis 90-minute seminar shall be concluded with a brief Q & A session. \nPlease email Rosemary\, at rosemary@idii.org to register for this event\nJeanne Bresciani\, M.A.\, Kress Fellow in Art History\, M.A. (Williams College Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute)\, Fulbright Scholar in Dance (New York University)\, I.M.A. in Archetypal Psychology/Laban Studies\, Ph.D. (New York University)\, is the main protégée of Maria Theresa Duncan\, adopted daughter of Isadora Duncan and serves as Artistic Director for the Isadora Duncan International Institute (idii.org). Hailed by the press as “the divine in motion” for her lifelong dedication to the body of myth\, Bresciani is former Faculty at NYU and Founding Chair of the Committee for the Reinstatement of the Delphic Games allied with Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies. She has presented at Lincoln Center\, The British Museum\, The Olympic Games and archaeological sites\, palaces\, stages and universities globally. Her influence includes the development of the first accredited Duncan training programs in the US\, Asia and Europe and the revivification of great Western festivals including the Delphic Games of Greece; and in Italy within the ongoing development of Carnevale di Venezia and the Serenissima Circle\, a philanthropic group of like-minded individuals devoted to the preservation of the cultural treasury found within the incomparable city.  Jeanne is in frequent artistic and scholarly residency internationally and is recipient of The “Tenth Muse” Golden Award 2016 granted by the Universal Delphic Union and the Honorable Panos J. Kaltsis.

SUMMARY:'The Delphic Preview' 2020 | Digital Offering
DESCRIPTION:The Delphic Preview\nFestival of the Muses\n \nThe Delphic Preview: Festival of the Muses celebrates contemporary re-imaginings of Greek culture as they pertain to the ancient and eternal tradition of the Festival of the Delphic Games. The online event invites the global community to engage with ancient Greek art\, music\, dance\, poetry\, song\, myth\, sport and theater in modern iterations through live-streamed performances and discussions\, and through the Garden of the Muses\, a collection of videos\, audio recordings\, and scholarly articles. \nThe Festival is presented by Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies in collaboration with the Isadora Duncan International Institute\, the Ecumenical Delphic Union\, and the Committee for the Reinstatement of the Delphic Games. Sponsors include MOISA: The International Society for the Study of Greek and Roman Music and its Cultural Heritage. The Festival is part of the larger initiative to further the ongoing modern reinstatements of the Festival of the Delphic Games to be held next in Delphi\, June 2021. \nAll times in Eastern Daylight Time. Live stream available at chs.harvard.edu and on YouTube. Recordings will be available on YouTube. \n‘Preview’ Aspects from the IDII include:  \nFriday\, June 19th\n9:00-10:30am — Opening Ceremony \nZoie Lafis (Center for Hellenic Studies)\, Gregory Nagy (Center for Hellenic Studies)\, Panos Kaltsis (Ecumenical Delphic Union)\, and Jeanne Bresciani\, Founding Chair of the Committee for the Reinstatement of the Delphic Games (Isadora Duncan International Institute). \nA welcome message from the organizing institutions of the Delphic Preview\, featuring the presentation of two dances: \nIn Tanagra Procession is a collaborative interpretation staged by Jeanne Bresciani for the Delphic Preview 2020 after the original study by Isadora Duncan on form and character as housed within the Tanagra figurines. Dancers within this digital project span diverse artistic backgrounds and locales across the globe from Japan to Germany\, France\, Italy\, Portugal\, Hawaii\, Canada and more locally within the continental United States forging a universality digitally through these ancient and eternal statements on the telos of personhood. \nOde to Nike: Triumph of the Human Spirit (excerpt)\, performed by Rosemary Cooper\, choreographed by Jeanne Bresciani after fragments left from Isadora Duncan via Maria-Theresa Duncan\, the “last dancing Isadorable” and co-founder of the Isadora Duncan International Institute\, to Chopin’s legendary Heroic Polonaise Op. 53 in A Flat Major. In this historic encounter\, homage is paid to Athena Pronoia gifted in foreknowledge of trial to triumph for the mitigation of suffering and the enhancement of soul. \n“Living laws within the living body.” Isadora Duncan \nClick here for a full schedule of events and materials within the Garden of the Muses \nAll times in Eastern Daylight Time. SUMMARY:Virtual Masterclass | The Quest for Isadora
DESCRIPTION:The Quest for Isadora\nFor some of us Isadora’s exigency is within every breath and is part of our very life force. She is less ‘other’ and is more ‘essence’. Having forged – roughhewn and refined – a ‘school of life’\, her presence filtered into everything\, everywhere. From a rare capacity for universality through the courageous dissemination of her art and its technique\, choreography and imaginative potential\, she has called many to her\, who have answered lifelong. Some\, if not all\, of the following strivings provided within her canon give initiatory force to: \n•  a sense of identity  • a physical prowess  • an embodiment of womanliness  • a romantic enhancement • a challenge to the self   • a whimsical caprice   • a realm of inspiration   • a path to freedom • an expressive outlet   • a mission of peace • a conduit to service •  an opening of the heart   • an immersion in beauty   • a deepening humanness   •  an amelioration of suffering   • a call to action • a breakthrough   • a healing balm   •  a conduit to empowerment   • a flight of transcendence  • an access to transformation   • a system of belief • a commingling of souls   •  an historical gaze   • a site of sanctuary     \n… and are made possible through Isadora’s art.\nWe shall experience them as tributaries of a stream of life flowing\, branching and spreading from the well-formed arcs of Duncan’s consummate movement. There we shall not only discover more deeply Isadora but the heart of our own quest for the Dance. \nAll students of Life\, Movement\, and Art are welcome. \nVirtual classes will be live via Zoom. \nJeanne Bresciani\nDirector of the Isadora Duncan International Institute/NYC\nwww.idii.org \nFriday\, May 9\, 2020\, 7-9pm\nSaturday\, May 10\, 2020\, 10am – 12pm\nSunday\, May 11\, 2020\, 10am – 12pm \nEntire Weekend (6 hours): $120\nOne 2-hour session: $50\nAll registrations must be received by 5 pm the day before class.  \nTo register or for more information: cynthia@worddance.org
