DESCRIPTION:Presented by Word Dance Theater \nIsadora Duncan: Threshold to the Mysteries\nWith Jeanne Bresciani\, Ph.D.\nFriday\, September 27th – Saturday\, September 28th\, 2024 Dumbarton United Methodist Church\, Washington\, D.C. \nHeld Live and Via Zoom \n  \nIn the beginning was the dance. Predating Greek theater as an art form\, women\, in spontaneous motion upon threshing grounds\, rhythmically stamped on stone to crush the grain\, nourish the populace and enact the “glorious childbirth of the dance.” In continuity\, we are fed via animate\, archetypal embodiment to dance\, interconnecting mystery to knowledge and to what lies between. Honoring the Greater Eleusinian Mysteries\, celebrated to vitalize the life force for almost 2\,000 years on the last 9 days of September\, we shall craft theatre-dance ceremonies of recollection in 9 hours together.  “Out of ourselves and something greater than all selves\,” in other words\, through the mysteries\, we shall pierce the veil not just to the within but to the above\, beneath and beyond\, bearing promise that what was lost of individual and communal totality and stability can be found. \n  \nRegister Here!
